English Language Arts: The components of our balanced literacy program include Writing Workshop , Read Aloud, Shared Reading, Guided Reading, Independent Reading, Language Experience Approach (LEA), Fundations®, and Literacy Intervention/Enrichment (RtII) — which promote integrated and rigorous instruction.

Mathematics: Math in Focus (sometimes known as Singapore Math) is implemented K-6. Students concentrate on problem solving and learn to understand the “how” and “why” of mathematical concepts in order to develop strong mathematical thinking skills. Instruction incorporates concrete (e.g., manipulatives), pictorial (e.g., graphs), and abstract (e.g., numerals) pedagogy to achieve mastery in skills.

Science: Students explore science themes using the integration of reading and hands-on activities with the following topics: Materials and Motion, Trees and Weather, and Animals.

Social Studies: Social Studies themes are explored using the integration of literacy and other activities with the following topics: Communities, Celebrations Across Cultures, and Geography & Me.

Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS): Students are supported using a research-based framework that implements behavioral support strategies through modeling and practice, guided by data-based decision-making.

Technology: Technology is integrated as a tool for learning and communication, using hardware and software that complements curriculum and provides practice of concepts/skills in subject areas.

Recess and Gross Motor Play: Students engage in socialization, physical activities, teamwork recess play.

Mindfulness: nurtures inner peace, enhances self-confidence, and facilitates more meaningful relationships.

Play-based Learning: provides opportunities to enrich learning through play, during which Kindergarteners seek to explore their social worlds, while actively engaging with people, objects, and representations. Play-based learning encourages language skills; supports literacy skills; develops social and emotional skills; and fosters creativity and imagination.
